Sports

Middle School Sports

BCSC offers a wide variety of sports for middle schools students. All boys and girls currently enrolled in grades 6 through 8 are eligible to particpate in the following sports. Our coaches and staff are very dedicated to each sport. The sports seasons last for approximately two months. We play six games during the regular season and then there are playoffs, which can last an additional 2 weeks. The sports participation fee is $20 per student per sport. This helps fund the sports program to buy new equipment and new jerseys for each team. All of our team jerseys are less than two years old.

Basketball

Basketball starts within the first few weeks of school in September. The season goes until November. Mr. Colbert was the boys basketball coach, and Mr. Castillo was the girls coach. Activities

Computer Club

Teacher Sponsers: Mr. Ed Bell & Mr. Leonard O'Brien

Multi-media applications for elementary students: Students will experience cropping digital images, recording sound, and making a movie using Windows Movie Maker during the computer club's eight sessions. A CD of the students’ work will be provided to each club participant at the end of the club.

Dance Club

The fun way to exercise! Dance club meets on Thursdays for seven week sessions and is open to students in Grades 2-5. We learn a combination of Latin and hip hop moves as well as the classic group dances such as Electric Slide, The Hustle, Macarena, and the Cha Cha Slide. We have a lot of fun while we sweat!

Ecology Club

Teacher Sponser: Ms. R. Torres
5th-8th grade students welcome

The Ecology Club's purpose is to inform and practice basic common sense principles, about the nature of the study of living things, their environment, and the relationship between the two. ECOLOGY says we still have time to save most of the world's species. But to do it, we must stop trying to put an end to civilization and humanity.

Instead, we need to work on the overwhelming bulk of the land — the places we humans use. We need to make them over so that they can support both us and other species. It won't be simple and it won't happen overnight. But it is practical, it is positive and it is backed by science.

How can you help with our school reconciliation with nature? Send your ideas to Ms. R. Torres at: rtorres@bonitaspringscharter.org

Home Economics Club

In Home-Ec we prepared foods according to a weekly theme.

Show Choir

Show choir meets Wednesdays for seven week sessions. Anyone in Grades 2-5 is welcome to join! This session, the show choir is learning to sing, dance, and act a short medley version of Disney’s High School Musical 2. We will be performing for the school on March 5th.

Student Government

Bonita Springs Charter School has an active Student Government Association which so far has had 2 dances, and worked together with NJHS raising money for phone cards for troops overseas by having a carwash. We are jointly working with NJHS as a team in the Relay for Life walk.

Word Wizards Club for Kindergarten

In word wizards we play games that help the students focus on the sight words they are required to learn by the end of kindergarten. We play games like hopscotch, where they throw a rock and read the words as they hop along. We have also played Bingo, done a word hunt, stacked cup towers with words on them, played around the world, and many more. The students do a great job reading words that they have already learned in class, and they get to practice the new words that they haven’t studied yet so that they are familiar with them when they see the words again.

Before & After Care

The philosophy of the BSCS Before/After Care program is to provide an extension of the excellence in education standard of Bonita Springs Charter School. We will provide a safe, caring, and fun learning environment while encouraging your child's social, physical, and academic development.

All parents must enroll their child in the Before/After Care program prior to the child attending the program. There is a $25 registration fee that is due at the time of registration. You may enroll in the Before Care program, After Care program, or both. Walk-ins are accepted on an emergency basis and parents will be charged the daily rate.

The Before Care program operates from 7:00-8:15am and the After Care program operates from 3:00-6:00PM, during regular school days. We will offer care during school in service /teacher days and school vacation weeks providing at least 20 children are in need of care. A sign up sheet will be posted for parents.
